My Long-Awaited Cotton-Top Tamarin Drawing

Published on 14 November 2025 at 17:18

For months, this little cotton-top tamarin has been waiting patiently on my desk. I photographed this beautiful, endangered species earlier this year at Flakkee Fauna, and ever since, I knew I wanted to turn it into a detailed pastel drawing. But life had other plans: commissions, workshops, a holiday, and of course a lively puppy kept me more than busy.

Now the moment has finally arrived — I’m starting this new artwork.

The cotton-top tamarin (Saguinus oedipus) is native to the tropical rainforests of Colombia and is sadly classified as Critically Endangered by the IUCN. Capturing its delicate expression, bright eyes and iconic white crest will be both a challenge and a joy. I can’t wait to bring this little creature to life on paper.

Stay tuned here and on social media for progress photos and behind-the-scenes updates. This one is special to me.
