Back From Spain… and Ready for New Workshops

Studio Update:

It is Saturday January 31 2026 and I have an update regarding my recent travels. While the plan was to spend more time immersion in nature with the caravan the reality of the winter has led me back to my home studio a lot earlier than expected.

We ended up staying only 14 days and now I’m back in the Netherlands after what was supposed to be a calm, sunny winter in Spain. Well… calm is not exactly the word I would use.
Spain treated us to three named storms in a row. We had flooding, landslides, roads turning into rivers, beaches disappearing, and waves that looked like they were trying to climb into the living room. Every time I thought, “Surely this was the last one,” another storm popped up like, “Hola, did you miss me?”

And just when I thought, “Surely this was the last one,” the weather forecast showed even more dramatic storms on the way.

And while all that was happening, my body decided to protest too. The cold, the humidity, the constant damp air… it just didn’t work for me. I was in a lot of pain, and at some point I realised this wasn’t overwintering anymore, it was just surviving.
So yes, the experiment failed. Loudly. Dramatically.
But the good news: I’m home again, my body is slowly calming down,

Return to my studio

As many of you know my work for Arty by Esther requires a high level of precision and a clean environment. Whether I am working on a detailed wildlife piece or a custom pet portrait the conditions need to be just right.
Unfortunately the current weather has made mobile artistry nearly impossible. The surroundings were incredibly wet and muddy. Dealing with damp paper and the constant battle against mud inside the caravan was becoming a distraction from the art itself. To maintain the quality you expect from my drawings I decided that a dry and stable workspace is essential right now.

What is next for me?

Being back in the studio means I can dive straight back into my commissions with full focus. I have gained plenty of inspiration from my time on the road and I am excited to translate those experiences onto paper in a controlled environment.

The caravan is parked for a little while but the creativity is flowing.

I look forward to sharing my newest wildlife projects with you all very soon. 🎨✨Fresh start. New energy. Lots of stories to tell.
