The day at Welkoop Zierikzee has come to an end and what a day it was.
I arrived sharp at 9:00 AM full of energy to set everything up. It was great to see that the team at Welkoop really listened to our feedback from last time. Instead of being spread out we were all placed together in one area. This made such a huge difference for our visibility and it felt like a real creative hub 🐾
Setting up went super fast which gave me some time to chat with my colleagues and get to know the other makers. There is so much talent around and the atmosphere started off perfectly.
A Heart-Stopping Moment
However the day took a very unexpected and scary turn. A lady suddenly started shaking and her husband and I were just in time to catch her before she fell. It looked like an epileptic seizure and her husband mentioned she had never had one before although she did suffer a brain hemorrhage last year.
I immediately shouted for someone to call 112. We made sure she was safe and as soon as she was still I placed her in the stable side position. Within no time the ambulance arrived. It was such an intense moment and she had not regained consciousness by the time they took her. My thoughts are truly with her and her family and I really hope she will be okay
Pushing Through
After such an event it is hard to get back into the "sales" mindset. My legs were shaking for a while but I tried to focus on the visitors. It was definitely a lot busier than back in December which was good to see. The new layout definitely worked and people were much more engaged with the art.
The last two hours of the day felt like they lasted forever. There was not much conversation and the energy started to dip. Luckily my husband arrived around 2:30 PM to keep me company which was exactly what I needed. By 2:55 PM I was packed up and ready to head home like a lightning bolt ⚡
Final Thoughts
Looking back it was a fine day. I had many lovely chats and received so many compliments on my drawings. While I did not make a sale today many people expressed interest in my workshops. We will have to wait and see if they sign up but the seeds are planted 🖌️
Now I am finally back home and relaxing on the couch to process everything. It was a day of action and deep emotions but I am glad I could be there to help when it mattered most.
With all my love🩷
