🌿 The Little Crowned One – My Tribute to a Tiny Treasure🐒

The Little Crowned One. This piece features a cotton-top tamarin, a tiny monkey from the tropical forests of Colombia, instantly recognizable by its wild white crest — a natural crown that inspired the title.

🛡️ A Species Worth Protecting

The cotton-top tamarin (Saguinus oedipus) is critically endangered. With fewer than 7,000 left in the wild, it's threatened by deforestation and illegal pet trade. I chose this subject not only for its beauty but to raise awareness — art can be a bridge between admiration and action.

🎨 My Process

As always, I build up texture and depth layer by layer, using fine pencil strokes to capture the contrast between the tamarin’s expressive dark eyes and its flowing white mane. I want you to feel a moment of connection — as if this little creature is looking right at you.

This drawing reflects what I love most: animal portraits with soul and detail, where emotion meets precision. And yes, I’m proud of how it turned out 😊
