🌸 Throwback to where it all began...🌸
Sometimes a single photo can take you right back to a moment you didn’t realize was so important. This image, with my first art supplies and my little dog Angel by my side, marked the quiet beginning of something that would change my life. I never imagined that this small step—this birthday gift to myself—would lead me to a whole new path as an artist. And it all started with love, curiosity, and a dog who truly lived up to her name.
Before I ever picked up a pencil, I bought these art supplies for my birthday. No clue what I was doing, just a quiet hope that maybe... one day... I'd start creating.
Next to them stood Angel —my little dog, my heart, the love of my life and as it turns out, my very first inspiration.
She's no longer with me🌈, but forever in my heart.💗
Here’s the full story behind this photo, and how it all began 💕👇
I stumbled upon this old photo today, and it brought back a flood of memories. At the time, I had never drawn anything before—this was the very beginning. I had just bought these art supplies for my birthday: a set of Sharpie markers, a beginner’s guide to Zentangle, some sketchbooks, watercolor paints, and pens. I remember placing everything neatly on the floor, excited but unsure, wondering if I would ever really use them or if they would just sit in a drawer, untouched.
But the little soul standing next to those supplies—that tiny dog🐶 with the curious eyes and scruffy fur—was the real beginning of everything. Her name was Angel,
and somehow, that couldn’t be more fitting. She was more than a pet; she was my companion, my comfort, my spark. She’s no longer with me, but her presence is still felt in everything I create. Angel was my very first inspiration. Her personality, her love, her little expressions—she made me want to capture those moments, and without realizing it, I started to draw.
Looking back, I had no idea that this small collection of supplies would grow into something so meaningful. I had no idea that art would become such a huge part of my life. What began with hesitation became a passion. What started with Angel became a journey.
This photo reminds me that every beginning is quiet and uncertain. It’s okay to not know what you’re doing. What matters is that you follow the spark. And if you're lucky—like I was—you’ll have an Angel by your side, guiding you in more ways than you’ll ever fully understand.
Looking back, I see now that Angel wasn’t just part of the beginning—she was the beginning. She saw something in me before I ever did. And even though she's no longer here, she remains present in every drawing I create. This journey has taught me that inspiration can come from the quietest moments, from the paws of a friend, and from the courage to try something new.🌿
So if you’re at the beginning of your own creative path: be gentle with yourself, stay curious, and don’t underestimate the power of one small, beautiful spark.✨
With al my love
