​I just stumbled upon something fascinating that I had to share with you all! While watching a YouTube video by the talented Emma Colbert, I discovered that you can actually create your own pastel paper at home. To be honest, I had no idea this was even possible.

In our modern lives, we are rarely truly "quiet." We live in a constant state of auditory and digital friction. Outside the studio doors, there is a relentless hum: the ping of a smartphone notification, the distant roar of traffic, the mental "to-do" list that loops like a broken record, and the pressure to always be "on." This noise isn't just sound; it’s a chaotic vibration that keeps our nervous systems on high alert.

Pastel drawings have a unique softness and vulnerability. That’s exactly why they deserve a frame that not only protects them but also enhances their emotion and beauty. In this article, I’ll share my experiences and tips on framing pastel art, so your work is safe and presented in the most stylish way.

When I look back at my very first animal drawing, I can’t help but smile. It was the beginning of a journey that has shaped me as an artist. In this blog, I want to share how I started, what I’ve learned along the way, and how my art has grown into something deeply personal and meaningful.

For years, my creative journey began at the kitchen table in the sunlit conservatory. It was a cozy place, filled with family life and natural light, but it was never truly mine. Pencils, knife, and sandpaper competed with thea cups and dinner plates. Inspiration was there, but focus was fleeting.

One day, I simply walked into our local library after reading in the newspaper that another college artist was exhibiting there — and thought to myself: “Why not give it a try too?” That was last year. They were surprisingly enthusiastic, and one year later I was offered a summer slot,  September and Oktober were ideal: still plenty of tourists around, while the nearby campus would be kicking off a new school year — the perfect time to reach both locals and visitors.

Urban sketching turns everyday scenes into living art — and with this course I learn how to capture the world around me with confidence, style, and a splash of personality.

Before any color hits the paper, I start by carefully transferring the outline of my reference photo. This step helps me get the proportions right without wasting time sketching freehand. I trace the main lines onto the pastel paper — just enough to guide me through the drawing process without overwhelming the final result.
