There’s a brand‑new piece flying out of my studio this week, and it’s one that instantly brightened the whole room the moment I finished it.
“Whirlwind of Jewels” is my latest soft pastel drawing, featuring a tiny rufous hummingbird with warm, glowing colors that shimmer like little jewels in the light.
This little bird has been such a joy to create. Layer by layer, the soft pastels brought out the velvety feathers, the warm copper tones and that lively spark that hummingbirds are so known for. It’s a small artwork with a big personality — full of movement, warmth and that magical hummingbird energy.
